2020 Farm Finance Forum: Responsible Borrowing During Uncertain Times

California FarmLink helps sustainable and organic farmers to access capital and establish secure land tenure. The Farm Finance Forum is an opportunity to learn from other farmers’ experiences and compare ag business loans and other sources of financing your farm or ranch in COVID times.

Keynote speaker: Albert Straus, Founder and CEO, Straus Family Creamery. Albert will share his vision on creating a sustainable farming model through his experience.

The Farm Finance Forum is a valuable learning and networking opportunity for farmers and ranchers. It provides a rare opportunity to hear from a variety of ag lenders and explore financing options. Farmers who will talk about their experiences with borrowing include Gideon Burdick of Boonville Barn Collective in Mendocino County and Arron Wilder of Table Top Farms in Marin County. One farmer who spoke at last year’s event, Hansel Kern, said, “The farm finance event was a chance to realize that we were not the only ones with financial issues, and to learn what resources are available.”

Workshops will include a lender and borrower panel discussing farming and financing in uncertain times.  The event program can be accessed here.

We aim to support business resilience with access to land, capital and education that supports local farms’ long-term success.

This event is based upon work that is supported by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture, under award number 2017-70017-26886.
