Legacy Giving
Some gifts require deliberate planning, such as a bequest in your will. Legacy giving allows you to make a significant, lasting gift. It may also generate current or retirement income, reduce your tax obligation, or allow you to retain use of the asset during your life. To support land access for the next generation, FarmLink has designed the Land and Legacy Stewardship Fund to enable beginning farmers to access gifted lands. There are many ways to sustain the legacy of your property through land donation, selling land at a bargain rate, or establishing an easement with purposes related to farm activities and/or practices. Call Gary Peterson at (831) 425-0303 ext 7019 to learn more about tax-wise legacy giving.

Gifts of Publicly Traded Stock
Giving stock is easy and there are key advantages. When giving appreciated securities, you may receive a tax deduction and savings on capital gains taxes. Just share the following information with your broker: LPL Financial LLC | DTC number: 0075 | Account name: California FarmLink, A non-profit corporation. | Account number: 6272-8467
Or use this Gifts of Stock Form. This can allow you to make a significant gift at lower cost than donating cash. Please let us know about your stock transfer and we’ll let you know when it’s received.

IRA Charitable Rollover
If you have a traditional individual retirement account (IRA) and you are over age 70½, you are subject to what the IRS calls a required minimum distribution from your IRA. As an alternative to receiving the income, you can make an annual contribution of up to $100,000 directly from the IRA to qualified charities, including California FarmLink. As a result of bypassing your tax return, this approach may be a tax-wise and impactful alternative method of charitable giving. To learn more, call Gary Peterson at (831) 425-0303 ext 7019.

Matching Gifts
Many companies have matching gift programs in which the employer matches an employee’s charitable gift. Use your employer’s matching gift form to leverage your giving to FarmLink.
