Significant gifts to FarmLink can be arranged in families’ estate plans, such as a bequest included your will or living trust. Legacy giving allows you to make a significant, lasting gift. It may also generate current or retirement income, reduce your tax obligation, or allow you to retain use of the asset during your life.
To support land access for the next generation, FarmLink has designed the Land and Legacy Stewardship Fund to enable beginning farmers to access land assets gifted to FarmLink. There are many ways to sustain your legacy with an outright gift of land, making a “bargain sale” of land, or establishing a gift agreement that may include a conservation easement. Call Gary Peterson at (831) 425-0303 ext 7019 to learn more about tax-wise options for legacy giving.

IRA Charitable Rollover
If you have a traditional individual retirement account (IRA) and you are over age 70½, you are subject to what the IRS calls a “required minimum distribution” from your IRA. As an alternative to receiving the taxable income, you can make an annual contribution of up to $100,000 directly from the IRA to nonprofit organizations like California FarmLink. As a result of distribution bypassing your tax return, this approach can be a tax-wise method of charitable giving. To learn more, call Gary Peterson at (831) 425-0303 ext 7019.
Many companies have matching gift programs in which the employer matches an employee’s charitable gift. Use your employer’s matching gift form to leverage your giving to FarmLink.
