Approximately 28 acres of certified organic farmland are available for lease in Hollister. The property includes 20 acres currently planted in walnuts and 8 fallow acres. Of the fallow ground, approximately 5 acres were previously planted in blueberries and a few rows of blackberries, while the remaining fallow acres have not been farmed for many years. The land is flat with well-draining, silt loam soil and no known history of flooding.
The landowner is open to several arrangements for leasing the land, including leasing the fallow ground separately, removing some or all of the walnut trees, and/or establishing a crop-share agreement for orchard management. A highly subsidized rental rate would be available for the fallow ground during at least the first year of a lease agreement. The landowner is also open to targeted grazing of the property by small ruminants is in both the orchard and fallow areas.
